Expectations:
What follows is a list of some of the major responsibilities, which I expect you to assume in my class this year. You must familiarize yourself with all of them, have your parents/guardians read and sign this sheet, and do your best to meet these expectations as this year continues.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:
1. Arrive for class on time. This means that you must be in the room when the bell sounds. If you are delayed for a legitimate reason (talking to another teacher, finishing up a test, called to the office, etc.) make sure that you arrive with a pass signed by the staff member you were with. Please note that a “cut” is any absence from class without the prior permission of the teacher. A cut will result in a ZERO for any work or test missed.
2. To be in class except when sickness or an urgent situation prevents it. DO NOT arrange to make up work for other classes during mine. As for appointments with Guidance or Student Assistance Counselors you are to set these meetings up before or after my class UNLESS THERE IS A TRUE EMERGENCY.
3. Help me provide a meaningful learning environment for all by:
a. Refraining from non – essential, disruptive conversation
b. Raising your hand when volunteering information of answering a question
c. Not leaving your seat to throw things in the garbage or to sharpen our pencil while someone else is speaking.
d. Being respectful of all teachers and students in the classroom AT ALL TIMES. Disrespect WILL NOT be tolerated and phone calls home, detentions, or office referrals will be used in these cases.
4. Arrive prepared each day for class. You must bring your social studies binder and a writing utensil.
5. To maintain an organized and comprehensive notebook. A 3 – Ring binder is required for this class. All notes, handouts, and returned papers must go in the designated sections of your binder, and notebook checks may occur at any time!
6. Take notes carefully and review them on a daily basis.
7. Do all assignments on your own, unless otherwise directed. Copying assignments of other and/or cheating on exams will not be tolerated, and will result in a grade of “zero” for all parties involved.
8. To seek me out if you should miss a class as a result of a legal lateness or absence. If you are in school, even though you may have legally missed class it is your responsibility to turn in any homework or make up work that may be due that day. If work is not turned in 9 points will be deducted each day the work is late.
9. To know that quizzes, both announced and unannounced, will be given periodically throughout the year. Unit exams will be given at the end of each major unit and will be announced at least one week in advance.
10. PLEASE UTILIZE EXTRA HELP IF NEEDED. I am available, upon request, during lunch and before or after school.
